It appears that the techies at Google accidentally deleted their own blog (googleblog.blogspot.com), allowing someone else to register it.
The problem was only short-lived however, and everything is back online as normal.

The last few weeks have been interesting for anyone following the Google PageRank in their browser bar. Our blog has jumped from a page rank of 0 to 5, back to 0, up to 5 again, down to 4, 3, then 0 and back up to 5 again.
Overall our rankings in the search engines have been steadily increasing, but the Page Ranks have been dancing all over the place.

These days it's getting harder & harder to discern between real information and spam. It can be quite annoying. One example is this blog, and some of our other blogs. Very often blogger.com will flag our blogs as spam blogs due to the high link ratio leaving the site. Instead of seeing it as a useful collection of links, it automatically assumes spam.
