Google Page Rank Dance

The last few weeks have been interesting for anyone following the
Google PageRank in their browser bar. Our blog has jumped from a page rank of 0 to 5, back to 0, up to 5 again, down to 4, 3, then 0 and back up to 5 again.
Overall our
rankings in the search engines have been steadily increasing, but the Page Ranks have been dancing all over the place.
If you don't have a Google PageRank in your browser, check out our
previous post to download the firefox broswer with Google Toolbar.
Any idea why?
Every so ofen Google does an update of their search algorithms. Because Google is so large, they aren't running their whole operations on a single site. In fact, they have several data-centers where the algorithms & databases are stored. When a user does a search under google.com, they are actually pulling the information from a possible number of data-centers. The gradual implementation of the new algorithm across the datacenters accounts for the difference in search results.
