Rapidly Losing Hard-Disk Space in Vista?

We recently had a problem with Windows Vista... the hard-drive was rapidly filling up. 30 Gigs of free space on the disk disappeared within a week. The drive was full, and windows was giving the 'low disk space' error messages. I deleted 10 gigs, which filled up again after only 2 days...the same error messages returned.

Here's the solution to freeing up disk space in Vista

Vista uses a large amount of disc space for system restore and for shadow copies. To limit the amount of disc space allocated to system restore and shadow copies, open a command window by right clicking and selecting "Run As Administrator". Copy and paste this line:

vssadmin resize shadowstorage /On=C: /For=C: /Maxsize=2GB

Press enter. This will limit the space used to 2 gb but you can set the maxsize value to any number although I wouldn't go any smaller than 2 gb. Doing this will not reclaim all of the additional used disc space as there other reasons for the disc space usage but in my case it freed up 37 Gigs of hard-drive space.

You will see the language selection window pop up, choose English (Pirate). [yes, it's still in beta... i think they haven't finalized the proper pirate term for "throw a sheep" yet]

Using 2 decks (jokers excluded), each player is dealt 11 cards. Pick up 1 card, from the discard pile or the stack. Must have a discard to go out. 2's are wild.

The dollar values are what people are paying for clicks on those specific keywords. By having all those terms on his page, the ads on his site from google will show adsense ads related to those terms and he will then make moeny from clicks.

As we've said before, the BEST & ONLY LEGITMATE way to make money on the internet is to create and maintain a quality site with lots of original, relevant content that people will want to read.

It appears that the techies at Google accidentally deleted their own blog (googleblog.blogspot.com), allowing someone else to register it.
The problem was only short-lived however, and everything is back online as normal.

The last few weeks have been interesting for anyone following the Google PageRank in their browser bar. Our blog has jumped from a page rank of 0 to 5, back to 0, up to 5 again, down to 4, 3, then 0 and back up to 5 again.
Overall our rankings in the search engines have been steadily increasing, but the Page Ranks have been dancing all over the place.

These days it's getting harder & harder to discern between real information and spam. It can be quite annoying. One example is this blog, and some of our other blogs. Very often blogger.com will flag our blogs as spam blogs due to the high link ratio leaving the site. Instead of seeing it as a useful collection of links, it automatically assumes spam. It is usually sorted out and the blogs become active again, so we don't really mind.
On a positive note, our servers are equipped with spam protection that can be enabled for all email accounts. There are various levels of security that can be selected. IF you are uncertain on how to operate them, just let us know!

We've been talking at the office here and we decided that the perfect Ultimate Fighting Championship matchup would be the Anonymous Midwest Girl (AMG) up against the Bored Housewife.
Without hesitation we dare say that AMG could lay the smack down against the Bored Housewife.
Not only is her blog worth twice as much (~90k), her friend Scott (who is not gay, btw) didn't rip on us for having the same theme as his blog.

REDESIGN - benevolence to blogger.com (port)

We would like to extend a much-deserved 'Thank You' to one of the Bored Housewife readers, Orange. Orange brought it to our attention that the design that we were previously using was hardly becoming of a web design company. They were most definitely right; shame on us.
As a result, Joseph ported the Benevolence theme (by Theron Parlin) that is very popular in WordPress blogs.
Though this may not establish 'credibility' with citrus plants, it sure makes for a nicer looking blog.

ADDENDUM
Benevolence was traded in for this modified blogger theme, as some users are still using IE and won't upgrade to FireFox.

NorseKnitWear.ca - Decorative Chain Mail

We recently did some work for a company that does Decorative Chain Mail. They are called Norse Knit Wear and they specialize in making chain mail armor, medievil battle gear, helmets, etc.
The domain name was switched from NorseKnitWear.com to NorseKnitWear.ca as have recently changed locations from New Zealand to Manitoba, Canada.
Although the design was left untouched, we created an administrative back-end from which they could add/edit their items & categories. Before we did this for them, they would have to contact their old webmaster every time they needed something changed on the site. This can be painfully slow, costly and just an overall nuisance, especially if the changes are very minor. We hope to save the client a lot of time & headache by creating this administration panel for them.

I wonder if the Bored Housewife realizes that her blog is worth nearly $50,000?
With a Google page rank of 5, and a traffic rating of 205,708 on Alexa this blog has the potential to really do a lot in the means of increasing awareness on important issues such as: Depression, OxyContin Abuse, or even if she would allow a worthy non-profit organization to puts Adsense on her site she could help raise funds to increase public awareness on certain issues.
We are currently trying to help a non-profit organization get off of the ground. I wonder if this message will get back to her and she would be willing to help?

Google Grabbed 46 Percent Of Search

The November 2005 figures from Nielsen/NetRatings on search share
didn't change a bit from the month prior, as nearly 70 percent of
searches passed through Google or Yahoo.

Writing about search engine share is like watching Bill Murray in
"Groundhog Day", where every day ends just like the one previous to
it. Maybe Nielsen/NetRatings should start calling it "Google-hog
Day" when releasing a statement on search share and percentages.

At the top would be Google, which snared 46.3 percent of search
queries in November 2005. Almost 2.4 billion searches wound their
way through the Google server farms. Yahoo held its place at second
on this list, with a 23.4 percent share and 1.194 billion queries
received, parsed, and tossed back to the user.

That takes care of the billionaires of search share. MSN Search at
number three picked up 11.4 percent of the November '05 search
market, 583 million queries. AOL Search was tops in single digit
share, 6.9 percent and 350 million searches handled.

MyWay and Ask Jeeves trailed the big four, at fifth and sixth place. Ask Jeeves owns MyWay and powers its search, so maybe the 2.5
percent and 2.3 percent of search share should be combined for the
two. Nielsen/NetRatings then listed EarthLink (which gets its
results from Google), Dogpile (a metasearch site), Netscape (Google
search results here too), and iWon (Ask Jeeves here) as the last
four on the list.

Over the summer we received a phone call from someone from TeammateConnection.com. They were having some difficulties with their site and their current developer wasn't able to solve the problem. We went in a fixed up the errors, and spoke with them regarding some future development needs they had. They are incredible people to work with, but had a real rough time with their original developers...
The exciting thing, however, is that they have a great idea: connecting players with teams, teams with coaches, work out partners, etc. This sort of thing is very much needed and would be of a huge benefit to an organization such as Velocity Sports. We spoke with the owner of TeammateConnection.com last week and shared some ideas with them regarding their site, and the nature of marketing on the web. They also had a lot of great ideas and are working on some plans to launch their project nation-wide. They will no doubt soon have an amazing product that will provide a great service, and become very profitable.

Migrating Mail to new server

We've been continuing to move our sites over to the new hosting facility as the previous one was causing more problems. We anticipate that all of our sites will be on the new server within a week. We are moving most sites manually to ensure that everything is done properly.

There may be a small interruption in the mail service as we transfer over the sites, but we will do all that we can to make sure it is minimal.

We are excited to be in our new hosting facility and anticipate more reliable service.

1 Server Down over Christmas

During the Christmas holidays one of our servers was down. None of our client sites were down, it was mostly our main site (vinemultimedia.com) that was affected as well as our development projects.
We have moved over all of our client sites to a new server, in a new hosting facility. We now have +99.9% guaranteed uptime and a much easier interface for clients to access their accounts.
We will also be moving our development server over to the new facility shortly.

The Home Appliance Superstore by Factory Outlet Small Appliance was our solution to the old site that FOSA was running. Our plan was to make a site that was easier on the eyes, and easier to navigate than their old shopping cart.
We lightened up the color scheme, divided the categories into a more functional heirarchy and created easily distinguishable tabs/buttons for the main levels of organization in their products: New Small Appliances, Refurbished Small Appliances and Small Appliance Parts.
Though most stores are vying for the retail sales of new appliances, Factory Outlet Small Appliance has a strong upper hand in that they have a HUGE selection of current and vintage appliance parts. They do factory authorized service & repairs for any sort of appliance you can think of.
I keep planning to buy a juicer from their store, and we tried to put a blender in the contract for their web design project. :) That reminds me, i still haven't gotten my wedding gift from Markos....

We were approached by this site: Small Appliance, Shaver and Gas Grill parts, accesories and repairs - Factory Outlet Small Appliance in the end of 2003. They wanted a more functional site that helped bring more customers to their online store. They were paying over $200 for a hosted ecommerce package but were getting far less traffic than when they had a totally budget, totally ugly solution.
Being the only factory authorized service depot in Winnipeg for virtually every manufacturer of small appliance, they had a niche. They have thousands and thousands of appliance parts, but nobody was buying...
